John Allan preaches on "Not Ashamed" on Seeking the Lost - International Radio.
In a previous study we noticed that we have to choose whether we'll be ashamed of Jesus and his words.
In Romans 1:16 Paul said he wasn't ashamed of the gospel of Christ. In 2 Timothy 1:8 he urged Timothy not to be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord nor of Paul. Just because Paul had suffered imprisonment for the cause of Christ didn't mean anybody should be ashamed of him. Then in 2 Timothy 1:16 Paul commended Onesiphorous because he wasn't ashamed of Paul's chain. On the contrary, Onesiphorous deliberately sought out Paul, found him, and helped him.
In Romans 6:21 Paul reasoned to Christians. He knew that they were ashamed of their sinful past. We should also be ashamed of our sin and seek God's forgiveness for it. We do that by hearing and believing the gospel (Mark 16:16), repenting of our sins (Acts 2:38), confessing Jesus Christ (Matthew 16:16) and by being baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 22:16).
