John Allan speaks on "The Inspiration of Scripture" on Seeking the Lost - International Radio.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 - "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."
Both the Old Testament and the New Testament were given by inspiration of God. And God's inspired word is profitable:
- For doctrine
- For reproof
- For correction
- For instruction in righteousness
Scripture allows us to be "thoroughly equipped for every good work".
2 Peter 1:12-21 shows us that the Gospel was inspired just like prophecy was inspired. Peter and the apostles weren't preaching fables or things they made up. They preached the truth from God.
In Galatians 1 Paul affirms that the Gospel he preached wasn't his own; it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. Nobody--even Paul and angels - had a right to preach a different gospel.
Even Paul couldn't come along later and teach something different, because when God has spoken that settles it.
We don't have the right to deviate from God's word. The Bible is God's word.
