As members of the church of Christ (Romans 16:16), it is our desire to search the scriptures (John 5:39), and do the will of God (Matthew 7:21). Part of that will is to teach the gospel (Mark 16:15). We will give you Bible references in our lessons and encourage you to check them (Acts 17:10-11). If you should have any questions and/or comments please contact us so we may study together (2 Timothy 2:15).

And now a lesson titled: "When Life gets you Down"

Regardless of who you are, where youâ??re from, what family you belong to, how rich or poor you may be, whether or not you are in good health, things in life sometimes happen that just â??get you down.â? It is impossible to avoid every circumstance that causes you to have such days when life gets you down. It is possible to face such times with a positive attitude. Here are some suggestions to remember next time life gets you down.

  1. Remember that life here is temporary, not permanent (Job 14:1; Psalm 90:10; James1:10-11).

  2. Remember that lifeâ??s problems are temporary, not permanent ( 2 Corinthians 4:16-18; Exodus 15:23-25; 16:3-4; Matthew 6:34).

  3. Remember that God will not put on us more than we can handle (1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Peter 2:9).

  4. Remember that God offers avenues of assistance (1 Peter 5:7; Hebrews 12:1-3).
    • Prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
    • Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
    • Christian Family (Galatians 6:1-2)

  5. Remember that sin and all itâ??s associates will be defeated.
    • The devil (Revelation 20:10)
    • The wicked person (Proverbs 24:19-20)

  6. Remember that lifeâ??s situations pale in comparison to eternityâ??s situations (Matthew 25:46; Philippians 4:6-7).

These six areas will not cause you to avoid every â??badâ? situation in life. They will, however, help you through them. It is important to put your trust in God now, strengthen yourself in His care, and be prepared for such times to come. Waiting to prepare will catch you by surprise and many times lead to giving up rather than enduring the difficult times of life.

What does the Bible say about salvation?

  • All have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
  • The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
  • But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).
  • Not everyone will go to Heaven (Matthew 7:13-14; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9).
  • Only those who obey God will go to Heaven (Matthew 7:21).
  • Obedience means believing that Jesus is the Son of God (John 8:24; Hebrews 11:6).
  • Repenting of sins (a change of life) (Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30).
  • Confessing your faith in Jesus (Romans 10:9-10).
  • Being baptized for the remission (forgiveness) of sins (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; 22:16; 1 Peter 3:20-21).
  • Live as a faithful Christian until death (Titus 2:12; Revelation 2:10).

What does the Bible say about how we are to worship God?

  • We are to worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24).
  • Worship is to be on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7).
  • The male members are to lead the worship service (1 Corinthians 14:34).
  • Godâ??s word is to be preached (Acts 20:7).
  • Prayer is to be offered to Him (Acts 2:42).
  • Christians are to give cheerfully according to how God has prospered them (1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 9:6-7).
  • The Lordâ??s Supper is to be taken (1 Corinthians 11:23-29; Acts 20:7).
  • Members are to sing one to another from the heart (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16).
  • We are not to change by adding to or taking from (Revelation 22:18-19).
